Hybrid Production

Hybrid Production is access-led industrial photography.

It is commissioned when one controlled industrial site access window can create useful visual assets for more than one stakeholder.

This may involve a commissioning client, host site, operator, contractor, agency, supplier or project partner with legitimate visual requirements from the same operational environment.

Hybrid Production is structured before the shoot begins, with clear agreement on access, brief, deliverables, usage, licensing and stakeholder requirements.

The value is controlled shared production: one coordinated shoot, clearly defined outputs and reduced duplication around difficult-to-repeat site access.

Hosted Access Capture.

Where access requires approval, Hosted Access Capture creates value for both parties.

Halcyon fulfils the core brief while producing secondary assets for the host site or stakeholder.

This helps secure access and strengthens stakeholder relationships.

Why it works

Because it solves a common problem behind many industrial shoots: access is often controlled by partners who have no direct investment in the production outcome.

Halcyon changes that dynamic.

Instead of asking a third party to absorb disruption for someone else’s benefit, the production is structured to create value for everyone involved.

This makes approval easier, improves cooperation on the day and often leads to broader, less restricted results.

What you get

Commissioning Client

  • Your core brief delivered in full
  • Stronger cooperation from host teams and partners
  • Smoother access and fewer restrictions
  • Greater value from the same production window
  • Stronger stakeholder relationships

Host Site / Secondary Stakeholder

  • Broad site imagery created naturally while the primary brief is being delivered.
  • No production cost
  • Useful assets for internal and online use
  • Minimal disruption on site
  • Value returned for enabling access

Shared Benefit

  • One coordinated production
  • Reduced onboarding duplication
  • Clearly defined outputs
  • Better use of site access

The Boundary

Hosted Access Capture is designed for general industrial photography created alongside the main brief.

Where a secondary stakeholder requires specific deliverables, tailored messaging or dedicated priorities, the project moves to Dual Stakeholder Production.

BP (Host Client) → Diamond Drilling (Secondary Stakeholder)
Diamond Drilling enabled BP to feature its crew within the primary campaign imagery.

Halcyon delivered a concise, targeted collection of Diamond personnel working on a highly restricted offshore asset. This level of access and authenticity would have been difficult for either party to achieve through separate commissions alone.

OCP (Primary Client) → UM6P (Host Site)

During a multi-site production for OCP Morocco, UM6P enabled access to its agricultural research facility focused on fertiliser performance and farming in arid environments.

Halcyon delivered targeted imagery supporting OCP’s wider communications around innovation and food security, while selected assets were also usable by UM6P for internal and online use. One access window delivered credible, usable assets for both organisations without the cost or disruption of separate shoots.

Dual Stakeholder Capture.

Where two organisations need separate results from the same project, Dual Stakeholder Production delivers for both through one coordinated shoot.

Halcyon delivers two distinct briefs through one coordinated production window, with separate outputs for each stakeholder. This reduces duplicated access requests, repeated onboarding and unnecessary disruption.

Why it works

Because many industrial projects involve connected businesses with different commercial needs.

A contractor may need campaign imagery. A supplier may need product-focused assets. A client may need milestone documentation or internal communications.

Handled separately, this often means repeated shoots, multiple crews, conflicting schedules and inconsistent results.

Halcyon changes that dynamic.

Instead of treating each requirement as a separate production, it becomes one managed shoot structured to serve both parties efficiently.

This saves time, reduces duplication and often leads to stronger, more consistent results.

What you get

Primary Stakeholder

  • Your core brief delivered in full
  • Better value from existing access
  • No competing production team later
  • Reduced site disruption
  • Stronger coordination across all parties

Secondary Stakeholder

  • Dedicated content aligned to your own needs
  • No need to secure access independently
  • Lower planning and onboarding burden
  • Faster route to usable assets
  • Reduced mobilisation cost versus a standalone shoot

Shared Benefit

  • One coordinated production
  • Reduced duplicated onboarding
  • Clearly defined outputs
  • Better use of restricted access
  • Stronger efficiency across the project

Commercial Structure

  • Each party has its own brief
  • Each party has its own deliverables
  • Each party has its own licence terms
  • Each party is invoiced separately

Dual stakeholder production is about efficiency. These efficiencies are created through one production window, reducing duplicated mobilisation, planning and access costs.

The result is time and cost saved for both clients..

The Boundary

Dual Stakeholder Production is designed for industrial projects where both parties require tailored and individual outcomes.

Where a host site only requires broad general imagery created alongside the main brief, Hosted Access Capture is usually the better fit.

Keltbray (Primary Client) → SSE (Host Site)
SSE enabled Keltbray to generate a full project milestone library on the SSE-owned Eastern Green Link site in Peterhead, Scotland.

Halcyon delivered a comprehensive collection of stills, video and drone content for Keltbray, with a second complete library of stills for reporting and compliance for SSE.

This avoided the need for SSE to commission a separate production, which would have required additional onboarding, briefing, sourcing and site access. Saving on time, on cost and on site disruption.

How Hybrid Production differs from other production models

Hybrid Production is access-led.

Campaign Production is message-led.
Milestone Coverage is stage-led.
Image Library Build is range-led.
Multi-Site Production is consistency-led.

Hybrid Production is used when the access structure matters as much as the capture itself.

It can include campaign assets, milestone coverage, image library material or multi-stakeholder delivery, but the defining feature is that one controlled access window creates value for more than one clearly defined party.

What is Hybrid Production in industrial photography?

Hybrid Production is access-led industrial photography.

It is used when one controlled site access window can create visual assets for more than one stakeholder. This may involve a commissioning client, host site, operator, contractor, supplier, agency or project partner.

The production is planned as one coordinated shoot, with clear agreement on access, deliverables, usage and delivery before work begins.

When is Hybrid Production the right model?

Hybrid Production is the right model when more than one party has a legitimate need for imagery from the same industrial site, asset, project or operational environment.

It is especially useful when access is restricted, difficult to repeat, expensive to coordinate or dependent on a host site, operator or project partner.

The model reduces duplicated access requests and allows one production window to create defined value for each stakeholder involved.

What problem does Hybrid Production solve?

Hybrid Production solves the problem of duplicated site access.

Industrial photography often requires permits, inductions, escorts, approvals, site supervision, shutdown windows, weather planning, operational coordination and safety control.

When separate stakeholders commission separate shoots, the same site may be asked to absorb repeated disruption. Hybrid Production reduces that by coordinating the work through one controlled access window.

What is Hosted Access Capture?

Hosted Access Capture is used when one primary client commissions the production and the host site receives a secondary asset set.

The primary brief remains the priority. The host site may receive broader site imagery, people, process, infrastructure or operational context captured alongside the main commission.

This works when the host enables access and can benefit from useful visual material without requiring a separate full production.

What is Dual Stakeholder Production?

Dual Stakeholder Production is used when two stakeholders need distinct outputs from the same production window.

Each party has its own brief, deliverables, usage requirements and licence terms. The shoot is coordinated as one production, but the final asset sets remain clearly separated.

This works when two stakeholders both need targeted material and a shared production is more efficient than separate shoots.

How is Hybrid Production different from Multi-Site Production?

Hybrid Production is access-led. Multi-Site Production is consistency-led.
Hybrid Production is about using one controlled access window to serve more than one stakeholder.

Multi-Site Production is about delivering one visual standard across multiple locations, facilities, regions or countries.

A project can include both models, but the purpose is different: Hybrid manages shared access and stakeholder value; Multi-Site manages consistency across sites.

How is Hybrid Production different from Campaign Production?

Campaign Production is message-led. It is built around a defined commercial message, audience and channel.

Hybrid Production is access-led. It is built around the relationship between the commissioning client, host site, operator, contractor or partner involved in the access.

A Hybrid Production may include campaign assets, but the model itself is defined by how one controlled access window creates useful outputs for more than one party.

How is Hybrid Production different from Milestone Coverage?

Milestone Coverage is stage-led. It captures a critical stage in a project, process or operation.

Hybrid Production is access-led. It is used when the same access window can support more than one stakeholder.

A hybrid shoot may capture a milestone, but its defining feature is the stakeholder structure around access, delivery and usage.

Can Hybrid Production include photography, drone and video?

Yes. Hybrid Production can include stills, drone, video, b-roll, portraits, interviews and short-form content where permissions, safety conditions, airspace rules and operational access allow.

The capture method is chosen around the brief, the site conditions and the final use of the assets for each stakeholder.

How are usage, licensing and delivery handled?

Usage, licensing and delivery are defined before production begins.

In Hosted Access Capture, the host site may receive a secondary asset set with agreed usage. In Dual Stakeholder Production, each stakeholder receives its own asset set under defined licence terms.

This keeps the production commercially clear and prevents uncertainty around who can use which files, where they can be used and for how long.

Does Hybrid Production mean both stakeholders receive the same images?

Not necessarily.

Some assets may be shared where appropriate, but Hybrid Production can also create separate image sets for each stakeholder.

The delivery depends on the brief. A contractor may need project delivery imagery, while a host site may need wider operational context, reporting assets or internal communication material.

The production is shared. The outputs do not have to be identical.

Does Hybrid Production reduce disruption on site?

Yes. Hybrid Production can reduce disruption by replacing multiple separate shoots with one coordinated production window.

This can reduce repeated inductions, duplicated escort requirements, additional access requests, repeated briefings and unnecessary pressure on live operations.

The site still remains in control of safety, access and operational priority.

Who is Hybrid Production best suited to?

Hybrid Production is suited to industrial projects involving more than one interested party.

This may include operators, contractors, asset owners, host sites, suppliers, agencies, engineering partners, energy companies, infrastructure clients and industrial manufacturers.

It is strongest where the site access is valuable and more than one stakeholder needs credible visual material from the same environment.

What does Halcyon need to know before planning Hybrid Production?

Halcyon needs to understand who is commissioning the work, who controls access, which stakeholders need assets, what each party needs to use the material for and what permissions apply.

The key details are the site, stakeholders, access conditions, intended outputs, usage requirements, safety restrictions and final delivery needs.

Once those are clear, Halcyon can define whether Hosted Access Capture or Dual Stakeholder Production is the right structure.
